PGPX vs PGP at IIM Ahmedabad
The PGP is IIM Ahmedabad’s two-year MBA, admitted through CAT and open to freshers. The PGPX lasts one year, admits on GMAT or GRE, and needs four or more years of work experience. Both now lead to an MBA degree. Before the IIM Act, 2017, IIMs awarded diplomas for these programmes; see PGDM.
The name can mislead in one place. IIM Rohtak lists its own “PGPx” in the CAT 2026 Information Bulletin, a separate programme from IIM Ahmedabad’s. Other IIMs use different names for their one-year MBAs: EPGP at IIM Bangalore and IIM Indore, MBAEx at IIM Calcutta and IPMX at IIM Lucknow (EPGP).
