Guides vs campus reviews

Guides explain how something works: exams, shortlists, fees. Reviews answer whether you should join a campus. Start with a getting-in or shortlist guide, then open campus pages only for institutes already on your list. That way you are not reading twenty fee PDFs before you know if Rohtak or Ranchi is even relevant.

Keep exam logistics, shortlist rules, and fee math in guides. Keep Anchal’s score and verdict on the matching review. If the real fight at home is CAT vs IPMAT, open programmes before you buy two coaching products.

Getting in

A lot of the hard part comes after the exam: how each institute shortlists, CAP logistics, and WAT/PI. Read the CAT or IPMAT guide for the paper and rules, then selection criteria and cutoffs before you treat one percentile chart as a seat map.

Still choosing between early IPM and bachelor’s-plus-CAT? Finish IPM vs CAT MBA before you lock a prep calendar. Offer-week checklists come last; they only help once you have real calls.

Shortlist and offers

A useful shortlist is two to four campuses you would actually join, ranked by the kind of job you want, what you can afford, and where you want to live. “Top IIMs” lists and brand-only picks often put together campuses that fall apart once you put medians and fee notices side by side.

Build a rough list before CAT so your form choices stay honest. Re-rank after results with real percentiles, then use accept-or-decline only when deposits and waitlists force a yes/no. For A vs B write-ups, go to compare after the shortlist guide.

Fees, ROI, and outcomes

Fee PDFs and placement reports mix definitions. Start with how to read placement reports so MEP, fixed cash, and CTC stay separate, then do fee math on medians you can defend. Highest-CTC screenshots make payback look easier than it is and hide batch-size and role-mix footnotes.

Check your numbers in the fee payback calculator and Compare IIMs tool, then reopen the campus review before you sign a loan or pay an acceptance deposit.

Campus companions

Companions go deep on one institute’s fee notice, placement report, or selection policy. Open them only after that campus is already on your shortlist. Anchal’s overall score and verdict stay on the parent review.

Read the fee companion next to the live fee notice, and the placements companion next to the latest PDF, so you catch year-over-year definition changes before you model ROI.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a guide and a review?

A review is Anchal’s campus verdict with scores, fees, placements, and fit. A guide covers process or money math across campuses, or goes deep on one campus topic such as fees or selection criteria.

Where should a first-time CAT aspirant start?

Start with How to get into an IIM, then the CAT exam guide and Selection criteria explained. Shortlist campuses with How to shortlist IIMs before you drown in institute-specific companions.

Do campus fee guides replace the review?

No. Fee and placements companions go deeper on circulars and report walkthroughs. The review still carries the overall judgment and score. Read both when money or outcomes drive your decision.
