IIM Udaipur’s minimum CAT cutoff for the MBA 2026-28 batch is the 94th percentile overall with 75 in each section (VARC, DILR, QA) for General candidates. EWS and NC-OBC need 81 overall, SC 66, ST and DAP 42. Final merit weights normalised CAT score at 55%, PI at 25% and profile at 20% (IIM Udaipur MBA admissions, as of October 2026).
The 2026-28 policy covers IIM Udaipur’s 16th MBA batch, with a planned intake of 375, admitted on CAT 2025 scores. It was the first cycle after Udaipur left the Common Admission Process (CAP). As of 30 October 2026, the admissions page still carried the 2026-28 policy, and no 2027-29 policy for CAT 2026 takers had been published. Context: IIM Udaipur review and IIM Udaipur fees.
What is the IIM Udaipur cutoff for 2026?

The page reserves the right to raise or lower these minimums if the shortlist turns out too small or too large. Treat them as the published starting point for the cycle.
Is 94 percentile enough for an IIM Udaipur interview call?
Not by itself. Clearing the minimum gets you an online registration invitation. The PI shortlist then ranks registered candidates on CAT 2025 score and profile. IIM Udaipur does not publish the percentile at which its last General call fell. Figures labelled “IIM Udaipur call cutoff” on coaching sites are estimates without an institute source, and we do not repeat them.
The three layers (minimum, call, offer) are explained in IIM cutoffs explained.
IIM Udaipur selection criteria: three steps
- Step 1, eligibility and registration. Candidates who meet the cutoff table receive an invitation to register online.
- Step 2, PI shortlist. Shortlisting uses CAT 2025 score and profile: Class 10 and Class 12 marks, graduation, work experience and gender diversity. The page does not publish the weights used at this step. Work experience is counted up to 31 January 2026.
- Step 3, final merit list. A composite of CAT, PI and profile, with a minimum PI score that candidates must clear to stay on the list.
PI centres for 2026-28 were Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and the IIM Udaipur campus, in forenoon or afternoon slots. Candidates had to give at least three location preferences; final allocation was at the institute’s discretion. The policy does not mention a WAT.
How does IIM Udaipur calculate the final score?
The final composite is 55% CAT, 25% PI and 20% profile.
| Final merit component | Weight | How it is scored |
|---|---|---|
| Normalised CAT score | 55% | Your CAT score divided by the highest CAT score among candidates who attended the PI (score, not percentile) |
| Personal interview | 25% | PI score; a minimum PI score applies |
| Profile: academics | 6% | From application data |
| Profile: work experience | 6% | From application data |
| Profile: diversity | 8% | From application data |
| Total | 100% |
The page does not publish the sub-tables for academics, work experience or diversity, nor the minimum PI score. It says the profile score is based on the data in the IIM Udaipur application form, so the form entries matter.
Two details stand out. CAT is normalised on raw score against the top PI attendee, so the gap between two candidates at 98 and 99 percentile can be larger in Udaipur’s formula than the percentile gap suggests. And diversity (8%) outweighs either academics or work experience (6% each), which helps women and non-engineering graduates.
Reservations follow the CAT 2025 bulletin: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, NC-OBC 27%, EWS 10% and DAP 5%.
Is IIM Udaipur part of CAP?
Not since the 2026-28 cycle. IIM Udaipur was one of eight IIMs in CAP 2025, coordinated by IIM Bodh Gaya. For 2026-28 it ran an independent process, and an institute news post of April 2026 describes the move out of CAP and the 25 April 2026 results. Udaipur also did not join JAP 2026, the joint process of IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi and Tiruchirappalli.
In practice, Udaipur now needs its own registration and its own interview slot. See CAP for IIMs explained for how the shared processes differ.
What the formula means for your profile
CAT-heavy profiles. At 55%, CAT is the largest single block, and raw-score normalisation rewards every extra mark.
Women and non-engineers. The 8% diversity block is larger than either academics or work experience.
Experienced candidates. Work experience is capped at 6% of the final score. It helps, but a strong PI (25%) moves the result more.
Weak sectional. A General candidate with 74 in any section is out at Step 1, regardless of overall percentile.
We would shortlist Udaipur for General candidates above roughly the 94th percentile with balanced sections who are ready for a standalone interview.
What to check when the 2027-29 policy is published
- The sectional and overall minimums for your category.
- Whether the CAT, PI and profile weights change, and whether sub-tables are published.
- PI centres and the work-experience cut-off date.
- Whether Udaipur stays independent or joins a joint process.
