What the placement report says
If you’re opening the placement report for an accept/decline call, start here. Read IIM Rohtak placements as CTC centres near the mid-teens to high-teens, not as a ₹36 LPA promise. Final Placement Report 2025 coverage for the PGP 2023-25 batch reports highest domestic CTC ₹36.00 LPA, average CTC ₹18.73 LPA, and median CTC ₹17.00 LPA, with 30+ PPOs cited in the season narrative. Confirm numbers in the PDF linked from the placements page. Figures are CTC. Season-by-season tables for this batch: IIM Rohtak 2025 placement report on placement.report.
If you’re deciding on IIM Rohtak, here’s how to use that report without chat-group noise. For fees and payback, use IIM Rohtak fees. For overall fit, use the IIM Rohtak review. Scoring rules: methodology. Report literacy: how to read IIM placement reports.
What CTC labelling changes for applicants
Most new IIMs publish institute-authored placement summaries. Rohtak’s public walkthrough is CTC, not Ahmedabad-style IPRS MEP.
Practical consequences:
- Headline medians are comparable year to year inside Rohtak’s own series if definitions stay stable
- Cross-school comparisons still need a definition bridge (CTC versus MEP)
- Fixed cash extraction matters more than logo montages
- “Highest package” hearsay becomes less useful than median and average tables
- Peer schools that lead with MEP can look lower on screenshots even when cash is similar
If a coaching site quotes “Rohtak average package” without naming the PDF row, treat it as contaminated.
Core PGP 2023-25 numbers
| Metric | Figure | Definition |
|---|---|---|
| Median salary | ₹17.00 LPA | CTC |
| Average salary | ₹18.73 LPA | CTC |
| Highest domestic | ₹36.00 LPA | CTC; scarce upside |
| Reporting surface | Final Placement Report 2025 | Confirm PDF on placements page |
Prefer median for household planning. Use average only with the caveat that the top of the batch pulls it up. Pair either figure with the ₹17.90 lakh programme fee only after you add mess and facility charges from the fees companion.
How to read the placement PDF (step by step)
- Confirm the cohort label (PGP 2023-25 finals, not summer-only tables)
- Find median and average CTC and copy the institute’s definition notes into your notes
- Scan notes on fixed cash versus variable if break-ups appear
- Read function or sector tables for sales and marketing, product and IT, BFSI, and consulting
- Note PPO volume as leverage for some students, not a loan-repayment plan
- Ignore recruiter logo montages that lack counts
- Write one sentence on what would make you miss median (function risk, academic risk, geography risk)
- Run household EMI at 20 percent below median CTC
If a friend quotes a number from a coaching site, ask which PDF page it came from. If they cannot answer, discard it.
Sector mix and career planning
Sales and marketing, product and IT or operations, and BFSI or advisory consulting show up in Rohtak’s recruiter narrative (examples in our review include Adobe, Dell, Amazon, Maruti, Axis, Barclays, EY, Gartner). The batch does not place exclusively into elite strategy firms.
Planning rules:
- Build an India-first narrative; treat international roles as scarce upside if they appear at all
- If you want NCR internship and final-job options, Rohtak’s location is part of the product
- If you want stronger NIRF integers, compare Raipur and Trichy honestly (Raipur placements, Trichy placements)
- If fee pressure is extreme, re-check whether Rohtak’s all-in mess math still beats Ranchi after inclusions (Ranchi placements)
Process culture signals
Rohtak runs independent admissions (not CAP 2025). That is a process fact for shortlist calendars, not a placement guarantee. Market years still vary. A soft consulting year can push more candidates into sales, product, or BFSI than the previous cycle’s mix. Read the latest function tables, not a 2022 anecdote.
Summer recruiting is a rehearsal. PPO conversion strength is better at the top of the batch than in the long tail. Do not accept the programme on the assumption that a summer PPO will erase your loan by month three. Run honest cases in the ROI calculator and the fees framework.
What households get wrong with this report
Families treat ₹36.00 LPA highest domestic CTC as typical pay, then size EMI on that tail. The median is ₹17.00 LPA. If your student lands near or below median, the loan officer still expects the EMI you promised on the louder number.
A second failure mode is comparing Rohtak’s CTC median to Udaipur’s MEP median without a definition sentence. Equal rupee figures are not equal cash constructs. Write one sentence under each peer row: CTC or MEP, plus whether fixed cash is stated.
A quieter mistake is ignoring mess and placement facility charges when pairing outcomes with the ₹17.90 lakh programme fee. The fees companion exists so you stop doing rough estimate math on the programme fee alone.
Peer-comparison traps in offer week
| Campus | Latest public signal (Sep 2026 reviews) | Label |
|---|---|---|
| Rohtak | Median ₹17.00 LPA; avg ₹18.73 LPA | CTC |
| Raipur | Median ₹18.40 LPA; avg ₹18.80 LPA | CTC |
| Ranchi | Median ₹17.64 LPA; avg ₹19.29 LPA | CTC |
| Trichy | Avg ₹19.27 LPA (median not in press summary) | CTC |
| Udaipur | Median ₹18.00 LPA | MEP (IPRS) |
| Shillong | Median ₹26.00 LPA; avg ₹27.03 LPA | CTC |
Equal rupee medians are not equal cash. Prefer the campus whose placement PDF you can explain line by line, including how CTC differs from MEP on the peer sheet.
Before you accept or decline
- Download the latest Final Placement Report PDF and write median CTC, average CTC, and definition notes
- Map your target function to the report’s sector tables
- Run the numbers on personal cash at 20 percent below median CTC
- Speak to two recent alumni about fixed cash received, not package screenshots
- Re-check the report the week you accept; cycles refresh
- Keep the fees companion sheet in the same folder as the PDF
Frequently asked questions
Is the median the same as take-home?
No. CTC can include components that are not year-one cash. Always read the institute definition and ask alumni about fixed cash.
Are ₹36 LPA offers common?
They are scarce upside. Do not bank ROI on them.
Should I plan on median or average CTC?
Prefer median. Averages rise when a thin right tail of high offers exists. For personal EMI math, also haircut toward fixed cash if the PDF only shows CTC.
Is MEP the same as CTC?
No. MEP (Maximum Earning Potential) under IPRS is a different definition from CTC stacks. Do not compare an MEP median to a peer CTC median without a definition bridge.
Do summer internships and PPOs matter for finals?
Yes. A strong summer can convert to a PPO and shrink finals stress, but PPO rates and stipend tables vary by year and function. Read summer and finals sections as related, not interchangeable.
Where is the official report?
Placements page. Also linked from our Rohtak review.
How does this relate to fees?
Programme fee ₹17.90 lakh plus mess and facility extras; median CTC ₹17.00 LPA supports careful payback for median outcomes. Full fee math: fees guide.
