What the placement report says

If you’re opening the placement report for an accept/decline call, start here. Indore publishes a clear finals PDF with mid-to-high ₹20s CTC medians and large-batch variance. The official Final Placement Report 2025 PDF reports finals for 2023-25 with average CTC ₹29.57 LPA, median CTC ₹27 LPA, highest domestic ₹70 LPA, 225+ recruiters, and about 49% of the batch in consulting and finance combined. Summer 2024-26 in the same PDF shows average stipend ₹2.53 lakh and highest stipend ₹5 lakh across 215+ recruiters. Year-by-year history: IIM Indore placement reports on placement.report.

Figures are CTC as labeled. Fixed cash may be lower. Highest packages are outliers.

Fees differ by batch year (about ₹25.16 lakh all-in for PGP 2026-28): IIM Indore fees. Fit and IPM pathway: review. CAT process: selection criteria. School-leavers: IPMAT exam guide. Method: methodology.

PPO paths matter. Use summer stats as leading indicators, not as a substitute for finals planning. A strong summer in consulting does not guarantee finals consulting if your story drifts.

Why cohort size changes how you read the median

Large batches mean more clubs, more competition for scarce seats at elite firms, and wider outcome distributions. The left tail matters more here than at smaller elite cohorts. Practical implications:

  • Median is a better planning anchor than average
  • Run the numbers on EMI well below median fixed cash
  • Marketing and general management depth can be strengths; still verify current sales and marketing share in the PDF
  • Dual degree and MBA rows may sit in related tables; read cohort labels carefully so you do not mix populations
  • IPM-adjacent campus culture changes peer mix; do not confuse IPMAT hearsay with PGP CAT shortlists

How to read the Indore PDF

  1. Confirm finals versus summer sections
  2. Copy median and average CTC
  3. Note highest domestic as outlier only
  4. Read domain mix, especially consulting and finance combined share
  5. Check whether dual degree candidates are included in headline counts
  6. Search for fixed versus CTC language
  7. Align the report year with your fee circular year (outcomes lag fees)
  8. Keep the fees companion sheet beside the PDF because 2026-28 course fees rose

Compare to Lucknow and Kozhikode

CampusMedian signalLabelPlanning note
Indore₹27 LPACTCLarge-batch variance
Kozhikode₹27.50 LPACTCDomain tables matter
Lucknow~₹31 LPACTCOften stronger fee vs median
Bangalore₹34.75 LPACDSMetro premium
Ahmedabad₹34.59 LPAMEPDifferent definition

Prefer Lucknow when 2025 NIRF rank and fee vs median salary math win (Lucknow placements). Prefer Indore when you want old-IIM outcomes with large cohort energy, Triple Crown context, or IPM flexibility in the family plan. Prefer Kozhikode for campus lifestyle when medians are similar (Kozhikode placements).

Brand hearsay versus tables

Some recruiters still treat Indore as a step below A/B/L/K in prestige hearsay even when CTCs are competitive. Respond with preparation quality and alumni specificity, not with arguments about NIRF #8 alone. Show parents the placement PDF beside the fee circular for your batch. Brand risk is real for some elite desks; it is not a reason to invent worse numbers than the PDF shows.

PGP versus IPM: do not contaminate the placement sheet

Indore’s dual-path story is a strength for the institute and a confusion risk for families. PGP outcomes in the Final Placement Report 2025 are not a substitute for IPM multi-year planning, and IPMAT cutoff hearsay is not a substitute for CAT shortlist math. Keep sheets separate.

If a younger sibling is considering IPM while you hold a PGP call, build two cash models and two outcome models. Mixing them produces false comfort (“Indore places at ₹27 LPA median, so the five-year path is automatically safe”) or false panic.

For PGP converters, the actionable placement risks are large-cohort competition, CTC-versus-fixed definition gaps, and fee step-ups for newer batches. For IPM aspirants, start with the IPMAT exam guide and the institute’s IPM materials, then return to this page only for context on how many recruiters come to campus for your role.

What households get wrong with the Indore PDF

Large cohorts change how a median behaves. The Final Placement Report 2025 cites median CTC ₹27 LPA and average CTC ₹29.57 LPA for 2023-25, with about 591 total including dual degree candidates and about 478 MBA candidates in the report table. Families who treat the median as “everyone lands near ₹27” miss the left tail that large batches create. Run the numbers on EMI well below median fixed cash. Highest domestic ₹70 LPA belongs in the outlier cell only.

A second mistake is mixing finals and summer sections in one planning column. Summer 2024-26 shows average stipend ₹2.53 lakh and highest stipend ₹5 lakh across 215+ recruiters, with consulting near 29% of summer offers. Summers are leading indicators and PPO paths. They do not replace finals CTC medians. A strong summer in consulting does not guarantee finals consulting if the story drifts.

Consulting and finance combined at about 49% of the finals batch looks like safety to some parents. Volume still leaves a large share of the batch outside that combined slice. Marketing and general management depth can be strengths; verify current sales and marketing share in the PDF rather than relying on older campus hearsay. Dual degree and MBA rows may sit in related tables; mixing populations invents a false centre.

Brand hearsay creates a quieter error. Some recruiters still treat Indore as a step below A/B/L/K even when CTCs are competitive. Respond with preparation quality and alumni specificity. Inventing worse numbers than the PDF shows helps nobody. Show parents the placement PDF beside the fee circular for your batch year, because outcomes lag fees and 2026-28 course fees rose relative to older stickers.

Peer traps versus L, K, and A/B

Versus Lucknow’s ~₹31 LPA CTC median, Indore’s ₹27 LPA median often loses on fee vs median salary math when L’s circular holds. Versus Kozhikode’s ₹27.50 LPA CTC, medians look similar until campus lifestyle and deposits enter the memo. Versus Ahmedabad’s ₹34.59 LPA MEP or Bangalore’s ₹34.75 LPA CDS figure, label definitions before you argue prestige. Prefer Indore when large-cohort energy, Triple Crown context, or IPM flexibility in the family plan matter after cash models stay honest and separate.

Before you accept or decline

  • Download Final Placement Report 2025
  • Write median, average, consulting+finance share, summer stipend
  • Label outcomes CTC
  • Model below-median cash because of cohort size
  • Keep IPM multi-year planning on a separate sheet if relevant
  • Re-check when the next consolidated PDF publishes

Frequently asked questions

What are recent placement numbers?

2023-25 finals: average ₹29.57 LPA, median ₹27 LPA, highest domestic ₹70 LPA per the institute PDF.

Do summers matter?

Yes. PPO paths matter; summer 2024-26 stats are in the same consolidated PDF.

Is marketing still a durable Indore pathway?

Yes as a durable pathway; still read the current sales and marketing share in the PDF.

Where is the preserved official link?
Should I plan on median or average CTC?

Prefer median. Averages rise when a thin right tail of high offers exists. For personal EMI math, also haircut toward fixed cash if the PDF only shows CTC.

Is MEP the same as CTC?

No. MEP (Maximum Earning Potential) under IPRS is a different definition from CTC stacks. Do not compare an MEP median to a peer CTC median without a definition bridge.

How should I read the placement PDF step by step?

Write the report year, definition (CTC/MEP/fixed), median, average, and your target function’s row. Ignore highest-package lines for budgeting. Walkthrough: how to read IIM placement reports.

Data as of: September 2026. Verify figures against the institute PDF linked from the matching review before you decide. Prefer medians over highest CTC when you model offers.
