What the matrix shows

Search threads for "IIM fees 2026" and "IIM seats" usually land on stale screenshots. This table pulls the same fee wording, seat count (when published), median / typical earnings, and editorial payback years we keep on each campus review, so one screen covers the field before you open twenty PDFs.

Column In this matrix? Source
Institute, generation Yes Campus review basics
Programme fee Yes (sortable when parseable) Review fee line; "Verify PDF" when no safe ₹ lakh parse
Flagship seats Yes when published Review seat total; otherwise "See review"
Median / typical earnings Yes Same wording as the campus review
Editorial payback years Yes Review field; personalise in the calculator
City, NIRF, cutoffs, waitlists, EMI No Full review + your cash model

Right now 21 of 22 campuses have a parseable fee shortcut for sorting, and 10 publish a flagship seat total on the review. Missing seats are labeled, not guessed.

How to scan fees and seats

  1. Filter generation. Old / New / Baby chips cut the list to the set you already care about.
  2. Search name or city when you already know two or three finalists.
  3. Sort by fee to see sticker burden, or by seats if intake size is a constraint (waitlists, peer-batch feel).
  4. Hover or open the review for the full fee sentence; the Fee column shows a rounded ₹ lakh shortcut when parsing is safe.
  5. Move survivors into Compare IIMs and re-run payback in the fee calculator.

Deeper fee framing lives in the IIM fees & ROI guide. This tool is the scan layer above that essay.

Reading missing seat counts

Not every review publishes a clean flagship seat total yet. Those rows show See review so you know the gap is editorial coverage, not zero seats. When a campus runs multiple MBAs, the number we publish is the flagship (usually PGP / MBA) intake cited on the review, not every seat across executive or specialised programmes.

Treat seat totals as planning bands. Institutes revise intake; specialised cohorts and supernumerary seats can sit outside the headline number. Confirm the latest admission brochure before you model class size.

Fees versus payback

A lower sticker does not always win. Simple payback is fee burden divided by a conservative first-year earnings centre. The Payback column is our editorial years figure; the Fee column is the sticker (or verify-PDF pointer). Run the same campus through the calculator with hostel, mess, and a −20% earnings haircut before you treat sub-one-year payback as settled.

Out of scope here

Included: review-linked fee wording, parseable ₹ lakh shortcuts, published seat totals, median wording, editorial payback, and a link into each campus review.

Not included: category-wise cutoffs, CAP or waitlist math, scholarship probability, hostel quality essays, sector histograms, or EMI schedules. Those belong on the review, fee companions, and your own spreadsheet.

Before you shortlist

Use the matrix to drop campuses that break your fee ceiling or that lack a published seat figure you need for planning. Keep a small set, then do the slow work.

Checklist after you scan here

  • Re-download fee and admission PDFs for your batch year.
  • Confirm seat totals on the latest brochure when the cell says See review.
  • Align MEP vs CTC before trusting a median or payback cell.
  • Run personalised payback in the calculator.
  • Load finalists in Compare IIMs and read each review.

Quick rule of thumb

Cap borrowing at an EMI you can service on a below-median outcome. Prefer transparent fee and placement disclosures over a single low sticker. Framework essay: IIM fees & ROI.

Frequently asked questions

Where do IIM fees 2026 figures on this matrix come from?

Every fee cell uses the same programme-fee wording published on each campus review. When we can parse a rough ₹ lakh number, the Fee column shows that shortcut for sorting. Always re-check the latest institute fee circular before you borrow or pay.

How many IIM seats does each campus offer?

Seat totals here are flagship-programme intakes from reviews that publish a number. Campuses without a published seat count show "See review" so we do not invent a figure. Batch size can change by year and by programme (PGP vs specialised MBAs).

Can I sort and filter the IIM fees and seats table?

Yes. Filter by Old / New / Baby generation, search by institute name or city, and sort by parsed fee (₹ lakh) or seats. Default order follows NIRF rank without showing the rank column.

Why does a campus say "Verify PDF" under Fee?

Some reviews point you to the institute circular instead of a single sticker (for example when the domestic fee is still being confirmed). Open the review link, then the fee PDF, before you treat any number as final.

Is payback the same as the fee calculator?

The Payback column is the editorial years figure stamped on each review. For personalised all-in fee, hostel toggles, and a below-median stress test, use the fee payback calculator. This matrix is for scanning the field, not signing a loan.

Should I pick a campus only from fees and seats?

No. Use this table to drop impossible fee or intake constraints fast, then shortlist with Compare IIMs and read the full reviews. Fees and seats do not capture brand, role mix, or city living costs.

Next: deepen fees in IIM fees & ROI, shortlist with Compare IIMs, run the fee payback calculator, or open a campus review.
