What you will actually pay
If you’re building the all-in number, start here. Budget more than ₹20.80 lakh. IIM Kashipur’s MBA academics page publishes the MBA 2026-28 fee structure with a grand total of ₹20,80,000: course fee ₹20,46,000, a one-time admission fee of ₹25,000, and a refundable caution deposit of ₹9,000. The table spreads that across six terms. It does not itemise hostel rent, mess, insurance, or a laptop, so treat those as open lines until the admissions office or your offer letter fills them in.
For the outcome side of the ROI sum, the institute’s audited Final Placement Report 2023-25 for MBA and MBA (Analytics) reports median CTC ₹14.46 LPA and average CTC ₹14.95 LPA, with salary data labelled “Cost to Company” in the auditor’s letter. Fee divided by median comes to roughly 1.4 years of gross CTC before tax, living costs, and loan interest. That is a slower payback than most of the CAP and JAP peers Kashipur competes with for the same admits. Batch tables: IIM Kashipur 2025 placement report on placement.report.

Source: MBA 2026-28 fee structure, read October 2026. The page lists due dates of 25 September 2026 and 27 December 2026 for the first year, and 25 June 2027, 1 October 2027 and 4 January 2028 for the second-year terms. Re-check those dates on your offer letter before you plan a loan disbursement.
Year one is heavier (₹11.20 lakh against ₹9.60 lakh), and the ₹3.70 lakh Term I payment lands before any summer stipend, so have the loan sanction ready early.
The page lists the regular MBA only; we could not find an MBA (Analytics) 2026-28 table on the institute site, so Analytics admits should get their total in writing. Older totals near ₹17.30 lakh still circulate online from earlier batches. The live table is about ₹3.5 lakh higher, and planning on the stale figure means under-borrowing.
Build an all-in cash budget
A useful household model has four buckets:
- Institute fee: the ₹20.80 lakh table above, on the six-term schedule
- Residential costs the table leaves out: hostel, mess, medical insurance, and any refundable advances your offer letter names
- Kit and travel: laptop, interview clothes, and trips from Kashipur to metro recruiters or competitions
- Opportunity cost: two years of salary you give up if you already earn well
As an editorial planning band (the institute does not publish one), add ₹3 to ₹4.5 lakh across two years for buckets two and three unless your offer letter itemises lower. Daily spending in a small town stays modest; travel to Delhi NCR, airports, and home adds up. That puts a realistic two-year outlay near ₹24 to ₹25 lakh before opportunity cost.
Payback against the audited placement report
The Infomerics audit letter says the salary data “has been categorized as Cost to Company.” The rows that matter for ROI:
| Metric (MBA + MBA Analytics, 2023-25) | Figure | Label |
|---|---|---|
| Median | ₹14.46 LPA | CTC |
| Average | ₹14.95 LPA | CTC |
| Top 25% average | ₹20.92 LPA | CTC |
| Lowest offer | ₹8.20 LPA | CTC |
| Highest | ₹33.12 LPA | CTC |
| Graduates / did not seek / unplaced | 480 / 37 / 10 | Student counts |
Source: audited Final Placement Report 2023-25, highlights page and salary data table (mean ₹14,95,464; median ₹14,46,950). Some secondary summaries swap the median and average. The PDF’s own salary table settles it: median is the lower number this year.
Directional payback (not a promise):
- Fee only: ₹20.80 lakh ÷ ₹14.46 LPA median CTC ≈ 1.4 years of gross CTC
- All-in at ₹24.5 lakh ÷ ₹14.46 LPA ≈ 1.7 years of gross CTC
- Stress case at 20 percent below median (about ₹11.6 LPA): ₹24.5 lakh ≈ 2.1 years
All three are pre-tax, and CTC can include components that never reach your bank account in year one. Read CTC and how to read IIM placement reports before you treat it as take-home. The lowest audited offer, ₹8.20 LPA, is the row to show anyone who assumes every IIM graduate clears a loan easily.
What an education loan looks like here
Suppose you borrow ₹20 lakh and repay over seven years at an assumed 10 percent annual rate. The EMI is roughly ₹33,000 a month, before any interest that accrues during a two-year moratorium. Your bank’s actual rate, processing fee, and collateral rules will move that number, so treat it as an illustration and run your own inputs in the ROI calculator.
At ₹14.46 LPA CTC, gross pay is a little over ₹1.2 lakh a month before tax. That EMI is manageable at median and tight near the bottom quartile or in a high-rent metro. Lender comparisons sit in scholarships and education loans.
Scholarships and fee waivers
The MBA page lists two routes:
- Institute-sponsored: about 10% of MBA participants receive a full yearly tuition waiver under need-based, merit-based, or need-cum-merit scholarships. Year-one course fee is ₹10.86 lakh and year-two is ₹9.60 lakh, so a waiver can move payback materially for the students who win it. Confirm with the scholarship committee exactly which heads a “tuition waiver” covers.
- Government of India schemes: National Fellowship and Scholarship for ST students, the Central Sector Scholarship for SC students, PM YASASVI for OBC, EBC and DNT students, and the scheme for students with disabilities, applied through scholarships.gov.in.
Model your budget at the full ₹20.80 lakh. Only re-run it lower after an award letter arrives. Nine in ten classmates pay the full sticker.
Compare fee stickers with peers
| Campus | Fee signal (Oct 2026 reviews) | Outcome label to pair |
|---|---|---|
| Kashipur | ₹20.80 lakh total (hostel, mess not itemised) | Median ₹14.46 LPA CTC (2023-25 audited) |
| Trichy | ₹19.5 lakh + caution and mess advance | Avg ₹19.27 LPA CTC (median not in press summary) |
| Ranchi | ₹19.20 lakh (hostel in; mess separate) | Median ₹17.64 LPA CTC |
| Rohtak | ₹17.90 lakh + mess and other charges | Median ₹17.00 LPA CTC |
| Udaipur | ≈₹21.34 lakh (hostel, mess, caution as listed) | Median ₹18.00 LPA MEP |
Inclusions differ, so compare all-in cash first. On published numbers, Kashipur charges more than Trichy, Ranchi, or Rohtak and reports a lower median CTC than any of them. Udaipur folds hostel and mess into its total and reports MEP, a different construct from CTC. Kashipur still makes sense when location, the Analytics track, or a waitlist decides it. Admits arrive through the joint CAP and JAP processes, so read acceptance-fee refund rules before you pay anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
What is the IIM Kashipur MBA fee for 2026-28?
The official grand total is ₹20.80 lakh: course fee ₹20.46 lakh, admission fee ₹25,000, and caution deposit ₹9,000, paid over six terms. Source: MBA page.
Does ₹20.80 lakh include hostel and mess?
The official table does not itemise hostel or mess. Ask the admissions office and read your offer letter before treating ₹20.80 lakh as the full cost. Budget an extra ₹3 to ₹4.5 lakh across two years for living, insurance, kit, and travel until you have the real figures.
How long does it take to recover the fee?
Fee only, about 1.4 years of the ₹14.46 LPA median CTC before tax. With living costs and a below-median outcome, plan on closer to two years of gross CTC. Treat both as directional.
Is the median ₹14.46 LPA or ₹14.95 LPA?
The audited 2023-25 report gives median ₹14.46 LPA and average ₹14.95 LPA, both CTC. The salary data table (median ₹14,46,950; mean ₹14,95,464) confirms which is which.
How many students get a fee waiver?
The institute says about 10% of MBA participants receive a full yearly tuition waiver through need, merit, or need-cum-merit scholarships. Government schemes for SC, ST, OBC, EBC, DNT, and disabled students are separate.
Is Kashipur worth the fee over Trichy, Ranchi, or Rohtak?
On published fee and median CTC alone, those peers come out ahead. Kashipur can still be the right call if it is your strongest offer, if location suits your family, or if you will use the MBA (Analytics) track hard. See the review for the full verdict.
Where do I verify these numbers?
MBA fee structure, audited placement report 2023-25, our Kashipur review, and the IIM fees and ROI framework.
